I wouldn't say I'm totally speechless, I could probably ramble about this article for hours. "Canada's worst neighborhood" my ass! I bet there are a lot more neighborhoods in Canada that are worst then north central of Regina. (I can't speak for "The Core" downtown neighborhood though.
Being a single, native, working mother, living in north central for the past 5yrs. This is what I think after reading the whole article, I'm almost speechless! I can only slip out a few profanities. I could not believe how ppl can just look at all the negatives within the neighborhoods and don't mention all the good that has happened within the past 5yrs(or more).Sure there are some down sides to north central but there is a lot of good also. There is great daycares, schools, rec centers, corner stores, police station, parenting services and don't forget neighbors.
I've walked with my children in this neighborhood for 5yrs. In the early mornings to late at night(9pm,haha)and have never felt like I was in danger or fearing for my life. If that was the case I wouldn't walk.
I just don't know how someone can publish something so negative and make a whole community look bad, it makes it hard for my ppl within my communinity to be positive. Some "outsiders" meaning ppl not living in northcentral, tend to believe everything they read then take it out on the whole community.
There is going to be a lot of upset ppl from this article, yes, and I am one of them.
